Privacy Policy
Collecto (“Collecto”, “we”, “us”) provides invoicing software for freelancers. This policy explains what information we collect when you use Collecto, why we collect it, and who it's shared with.
Information we collect
When you create a Collecto account and use the product, we store:
- Account information — your name, email address, business name, and default currency.
- Payout details — the bank or e-wallet information you enter in Settings so your own clients know how to pay you. Collecto never processes this money itself; it's displayed on your invoices so your client can pay you directly.
- Client records — the name, email address, and country you enter for each of your clients.
- Invoice data — descriptions, line items, amounts, currencies, and due dates for invoices you create.
- Billing information — if you upgrade to a paid plan, our payment processor (Paddle, see below) collects your card details directly; we only store the resulting customer/subscription reference.
We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to understand aggregate traffic and page performance. These are cookie-less and don't track you across other sites or build an advertising profile — nothing on Collecto is used for marketing purposes.
How we use this information
We use the information above only to operate the product:
- To generate and display your invoices and receipts.
- To send transactional emails — a new invoice, a payment reminder, or a receipt — to the client email address on that invoice.
- To operate your account, including subscription billing.
- To respond if you contact us for support.
Who we share information with
We don't sell your data. We use a small number of service providers to run Collecto, each of which processes data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — our database and authentication provider. All of the data described above is stored on Supabase's infrastructure.
- Resend — sends the transactional emails Collecto generates (invoice notifications, reminders, receipts) on our behalf.
- Paddle — handles billing for Collecto's own paid subscription plans. Paddle collects and stores your payment card details directly; Collecto does not.
We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Collecto, our users, or others.
Cookies
Collecto uses a single functional cookie set by Supabase to keep you signed in. We don't use marketing, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Collecto doesn't yet have a self-service “delete my account” button — if you'd like your account and associated data deleted, email us (see Contact below) and we'll process the request.
Your rights
You can access and correct most of your information directly in Settings. You can also ask us to provide a copy of the data we hold about you, or to delete it, by contacting us.
Data security
We rely on our infrastructure providers' (Supabase, Resend, Paddle) security practices and use industry-standard measures such as encrypted connections. No method of storing or transmitting data is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children's privacy
Collecto is a business tool intended for freelancers and isn't directed at, or knowingly used to collect information from, children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
